What It’s All About:  Nate is 4th grader with a vivid imagination.  Yes, I know-most kids do have a vivid imagination.  But, Nate’s imagination launches him into an alter ego fueled by the sometimes chaotic situations he finds himself in back in the “real world.”  The result is an adorable story line complete with a best buddy, Tommy, and an annoying older sister, Abby.  Nate’s parents are a little too “Leave it to Beaver” for anybody to tolerate, and the author does a great job portraying their wholesome, yet askew view on life.

My Take on It:  I’m pretty sure anyone who reads this will want to climb into the book and give Nate a big pinch right on his little freckled cheeks.  As a middle school teacher, I know all kids can relate to Nate, and kids will quickly want to join Nate and his alter ego, Nate Rocks.  Nate Rocks the World has a light and easy tone to it, and the readability is probably best suited for kids aged anywhere from 7 to 12-in general.

Favorite Quotes: Well…where do I start?  There are so many little slices of cuteness that truly made me giggle out loud.  Here are just a few:

“I do not know how Mom managed to burn the French toast on the outside and yet keep the inside cold, wet, and slimy.”

“He’s a 70’s disco guy.  He’s been walking around all day with that stupid wig on saying stuff like ‘boogie down,’ ‘chill,’ and ‘be there or be square.’ Trust me, it was even scarier than his ghost story.”

About the Author: Believe it or not, Karen’s background is mostly in finance.  Only until recently, has she found a passion for writing.  You can find more about her here: Karen’s Bio
